GRECAA is an acronym for an organization known as the Georgia Real Estate Closing Attorneys Association. GRECAA was founded in the late 1980′s be a small group of residential real estate closing attorneys who felt that there was an ongoing need to discuss problems related to their practice of law and to share ideas that were beneficial to their profession. The group rapidly grew in number and became more formalized, holding meetings and expanding their areas of discussion.
GRECAA, INC. is the corporate name, having incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1990. The association has by-laws, officers, a board of directors, and regularly scheduled member meetings.
The official purpose and goals are stated as follows:
- To educate, inform and update Georgia closing attorneys on current issues involving lawsuits, state and local bar activities, new and pending legislation, and any such matters coming before the Association which affect the livelihood of its members.
- To keep the attorney in the real estate closing and title insurance business.
- To help influence proposed legislation, in concert with other organizations with like interests, opposing bills that may adversely affect our careers or the public interest, and working in steadfast support of needed reforms.
- To vigorously market our Association within our profession and to promote growth to the end that our purposes might more readily be realized.
